Clients' assets are managed as though they are irreplaceable. Therefore, the focus of our investing approach is on preserving wealth first. Our objective is to provide clients with the best total returns in a manner that is consistent with their investment goals, while adhering to our investment philosophy.  Our approach is also driven by the fact that wealth, when left unattended, can lose value to inflation and taxes.

Relying on rigorous, analytical disciplines, we seek out investments, both traditional and alternatives, that are of high quality and that are fairly valued.  We rarely invest in "high-flyers" unless there is a compelling reason to do so. Like Warren Buffett, we prefer to buy great companies at a fair price, rather than fair companies at a great price. This approach has guided our portfolio strategy successfully through many stock market cycles.

We also believe that companies that have sound business ethics, and are environmentally and socially responsible, are more sustainable and will generate superior shareholder returns in the long run. We consider these factors in our investment decisions, and there are certain industries we avoid completely, such as tobacco, gambling, and recreational drugs.
